Escalation Protocols

For critical matters that require escalation (urgent imaging, stat labs, etc), please use the below numbers. These should serve as a last resort because if well all call them constantly, they will become ineffective, but should be used for urgent matters when normal channels have not works.

 When calling in an escalation we ask that you state the following:

  • Your name
  • Reason for call
  • “State that you are calling with an escalation”
  • Provide background of escalation
  • Contact number for follow-up

This should be the final escalation call for any major issue.
When calling in an escalation we ask that you state the following:

  • “I have an escalation for NYP-TEAM”
  • This step is very important to properly address your call
  • Provide background of escalation
  • Contact number for follow-up 

 Below are some examples of how you can utilize this new resource

  • Not receiving a response from Lab Services
  • Pumps are needed in the ED and Bio-Med is not responding
  • A bed is needed in the MICU and the house is at 97%
  • Overnight shift needs an MRI and no response from Radiology
