Neuromuscular

Welcome to the Neuromuscular rotation!

This is a great time to learn your peripheral neuroanatomy! The Aid to the Examination of the Peripheral Nervous system is a great book that will you use alot throughout residency — so if you don’t have it, it’s worth the investment!

Please check the schedule on CROWN to see what time patients are scheduled for each of the attending clinics. Typically the earliest would be 8:30. The offices are all on NI-2 as is the EMG lab. MDA clinic is on NI-3.

Just a reminder that it is expected that you will attend noon conferences, morning report, and chief of service while on this rotation.

This is also a great time to get your neuromuscular NEX exam done! (See attached). You must complete these by the time you graduate, and from experience I can tell you it’s not fun to have to go back and try and get them done at the last minute!

During this rotation, you may be scheduled as “Sick Pull”

Please check amion for exact dates.  When you are “Sick Pull” you are expected to be reachable from 7:00am the day of until 7:00am the next morning.  You should be within an hour of the hospital.  While it is unusual to be pulled, please do not make plans that would prohibit you from being able to come in on late notice. If you are unreachable or unable to come in if requested and another resident is pulled, you “owe” that resident pay back x2!
